France will transfer short-range anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) Crotale to Ukraine, which will help protect the Ukrainian sky.
This was stated by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, reports Associated Press.
"They (Crotale air defense systems - Ed.) will be especially useful in the fight against drones and aerial bombardments," the minister said.
Lecarnu reminded that France has 12 batteries of these air defenses, but did not specify how many of them would be sent to Ukraine. The Minister of Defense specified that instead of the transferred Crotale air defense systems, the French army will receive more modern Mamba air defense systems.
In his opinion, Ukraine will be able to deploy Crotale batteries in two months. At this time, the Ukrainian military will learn how to use them.
The Minister of Defense also confirmed that France would train up to 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers on its territory. Up to 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers will be stationed in military units in France, where, in particular, they will train on weapons that Paris is transferring to Ukraine.
