Ukraine freed 108 women from Russian captivity.
This was announced by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.
"We managed to carry out another large-scale exchange of prisoners today. Especially emotional and special - we released 108 women from captivity. It was the first women's exchange. Mothers and daughters were in captivity, whom their relatives were waiting for," the message says.
According to him, 37 women evacuated from Azovstal, 11 officers and 85 privates and sergeants, were released, including 35 defenders from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 32 from the naval forces, 12 from the defense forces, 8 from the National Guard, including 2 from "Azov", 5 - State Special Transport Services, 4 State Border Services and 12 civilians.
"Among those released were girls illegally imprisoned in ORDLO, who were captured even before the large-scale invasion. Since 2019, people have been imprisoned in pseudo-republics for "too pro-Ukrainian position", which was expressed in the transportation of humanitarian aid for orphans, far-fetched "espionage" and " terrorism," Yermak said.
The head of the OP noted that "it was a nervous exchange."
“There are too many details and moments that could affect the process, change its course. There are always a lot of risks in exchanges that need to be calculated from the moment of preparation and during the process itself. team depends on our people being at home," he added.
Yermak specified that all those fired would undergo a medical examination and rehabilitation.
"They will hug their relatives, their children, recover... Ukraine will not leave anyone. Because Ukrainians are the highest value of the state. We will free everyone," the head of the Presidential Office stressed.
