The European Union and Norway have signed an agreement to provide the last voluntary financial contribution to the EU military assistance mission to Ukraine (EUMAM) for 2023.
According to the press service of the EU Council, according to the agreement, Norway transfers about 14.5 million euros to the European Peace Fund.
"Today's signing will formalize this decision and ensure the entry into force of the agreement and Norway's effective contribution to the training and equipping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces within the framework of the EU Military Assistance Mission," the message says.
The Council of the EU stressed that Norway was the first country outside the EU to make a financial contribution to the European Peace Fund, "which is a confirmation of Norway's close cooperation with the EU in matters of security and defense, as well as its strong support for Ukraine in the defense of freedom and sovereignty."
"Norway's financial support for the EU mission to provide military assistance to Ukraine will give an additional impetus to the training and equipping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which continue the courageous fight against Russian aggression," EU diplomat Josep Borrell stressed.
