Incidents involving passenger planes have become more frequent in Russia. Due to the exit of Western suppliers of spare parts from the country, air transport began to break down more often, writes The Moscow Times.

It is noted that over the past 2022 in Russia there were more than 130 different incidents with air transport, including 28 air crashes. Since the beginning of 2023, at least 7 aviation incidents have already been recorded.

Industry experts are expressing concern about what is happening. The reasons for the increased number of incidents are not directly named, but the context of the exit from the country of spare parts suppliers is indicated.

For example, last year Boeing and Airbus stopped deliveries of new aircraft and spare parts for already operated aircraft to Russia. This forced Russian companies to cannibalize part of the fleet - dismantling some aircraft for parts in order to repair others.
