Germany may transfer 19 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine out of more than 200 - media

Germany has 212 serviceable Leopard 2 tanks of various modifications. Of this amount, Germany may transfer 19 Leopard 2A5 tanks to Ukraine, which are used only for exercises.
The German publication Der Spiegel received from its own sources a list of all Leopard 2 tank models available in Germany. It was compiled in the early summer of 2022.
It is noted that in total the Bundeswehr has 312 Leopard 2 tanks. Of these, 99 tanks were under repair in May last year, and one was decommissioned.
"There are 212 Leopard 2 models listed on the Troop Inventory tab. Among them are various 2A5, 2A6, 2A7 and 2A7V models, which is the most modern version. As of May 22, there were 53 Leopard 2A7V units in the army," the newspaper writes. .
Journalists' sources said that this list also contains information about which models of tanks are suitable for delivery to Ukraine. The publication suggests that the Bundeswehr can transfer 19 Leopard 2A5 tanks.
Now these tanks are used to simulate enemy forces in the army's combat training center. According to the military, they can do without the 2A5 models, since they are used only for exercises.
