France handed over to Ukraine Akeron 5th generation anti-tank missile systems, which are considered to be analogous to Javelin.

This was stated by the vice-president of the Commission for National Defense and the Armed Forces of France, Jean-Louis Thierry, quoted by Opexnews. It is not yet known how many ATGMs and missiles Paris is transferring to them.

“Today it is clear that the weapons we are sending are good and working. The Caesar, Mistral and Akeron SAMs are doing their jobs well,” the tweet reads.

Akeron MP - what is known

Akeron MP was developed by MBDA France and entered French service in 2017. It is intended to replace the US-made MILAN and FGM-148 Javelin.

This ATGM is designed for foot infantry, but can also be installed on combat vehicles. The range of this complex is up to 5 km.

It works on the principle of "fire and forget" - that is, it is enough for the military to point at the target and shoot. One rocket weighs 15 kg.
