A meeting was held in Kyiv between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Italian Prime Minister George Meloni. As the correspondent reports, the head of the Italian government announced the transfer of three air defense systems to Ukraine at a joint briefing with Zelensky.

In particular, she explained that the sixth package "predominantly" focuses on air defense to protect civilian and critical infrastructure.

“We have been working hard on this together with France to quickly integrate our technologies. The SAMP-T surface-to-air missile systems are very important, but there are other air defense systems in the new assistance package, in particular, Skyguard and Spike,” she said. Maloney.

The prime minister also commented on the possibility of providing fighter jets to Ukraine.

She stressed that when it comes to a country against which aggression has been carried out, then all the weapons provided to it should be defensive and designed for protection.

Maloney also announced assistance to Kyiv in demining the country and supplying generators.

In addition, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Italy discussed aspects of cooperation in the field of defense and security.

"Today, at the talks with Madam Prime Minister, we worked out all the key aspects of our partnership with Italy both at the bilateral level, and in European institutions and in general international relations ...", he said.

According to the head of state, "we will talk about European and Euro-Atlantic integration today in more detail during the continuation of the meeting."

“Of course, first of all, we discussed cooperation in the field of defense and security, and I thank Italy for the new defense support package for Ukraine,” the president said.

In addition, Zelensky and Maloney discussed the implementation of the Ukrainian formula for peace and Italy's involvement in this.

"As long as this aggression continues, the sanctions of the free world against the Russian Federation must be strengthened and, in our opinion, permanently, in order to prevent Russia from adapting to the pressure," Zelensky stressed.
