The Ruslan Shostak Foundation raised 3.9 million euros for the evacuation and maintenance of orphans from Ukraine in Turkey during the war

The project "Childhood without War" of the Ruslan Shostak Foundation raised 3.9 million euros for the relocation and residence in Turkey of about two thousand Ukrainian orphans. For ten months, dozens of national and international organizations and companies took part in the project. The evacuation became possible thanks to the participation of the first ladies of the two countries - Elena Zelenskaya and Emine Erdogan - and the assistance throughout the entire project period of the Ukrainian Embassy in Turkey and the Ukrainian Consulate in Antalya.
The Foundation has published a report on the work done and announces the fundraising for the start of the second phase of the project. This will make it possible to continue the stay of children from orphanages already on Turkish soil, and to accept new groups, taking into account the forecasts for the intensification of hostilities.
The children were evacuated in March 2022. In just 10 days, it was possible to implement the largest public-private project for the organized evacuation of orphans from Ukraine. More than 90 buses, 24 railway cars and 9 planes were used for the move.
More than 40% of the program funding was provided by the Ruslan Shostak Foundation and related businesses - Eva and Varus, the rest - dozens of international and Ukrainian companies, public organizations and ordinary people. Among the largest co-investors: Visa, Nova Ukraine, BLONDI, Milller&Smith, Henkel Ukraine LLC, Gelato, Tuid, SGDD-ASAM, Wells Fargo NY, Church USA.
Children live in two hotels on the Mediterranean coast with full board and health insurance. They study in Ukrainian schools online and attend additional talent development courses. Cultural events are held. After the war, all groups of children in full force will return to Ukraine.
The team includes more than 300 volunteers from different countries. Famous artists, sportsmen and public figures became the embassies of the project.
"At the beginning of the war, we directed all our efforts to take as many orphans out of Ukraine as quickly as possible. Save Generation U, or, as we call it within the team, Ua Generation. Therefore, we carried out the largest centralized evacuation of orphans from Ukraine. And launched the project "Childhood without War", within which we ensured the evacuation and maintenance of children in Turkey. After the end of the war, all children will return to their homeland. I am sure that our partner network will expand and we will be able to take hundreds more children out of the war, preserving the future of our nation,” said Ruslan Shostak, founder of the Foundation and the ideological inspirer of the Childhood Without War project.
