Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners, having shot down Russian "Daggers", saved the reputation of the American Patriot air defense systems.
This was stated by Defense Express expert Ivan Kirichevsky in an interview with Radio NV. According to him, before receiving these systems, it was expected that they would shoot down Iskander and Kh-22 missiles, and the more complex Kinzhal and S-400 were not even mentioned at that time.
Saudi Arabia has 200 Patriot launchers, infrastructure, and assistance from US instructors. Despite this, these air defense systems did not prove to be so effective for them.
“The story is that about once every two or three months, the Yemeni Houthis bombard Saudi Arabia with combined strikes using Shahed 136, rather primitive ballistic missiles and very primitive copies of the X-55. After our anti-aircraft gunners shot down six "Daggers" at one time, then a similar combination every two or three months, it is [not so difficult]. And Saudi Arabia, with its anti-aircraft gunners, who were trained by American instructors, sometimes managed not to repel such attacks, "the expert explained.
Due to the situation in Saudi Arabia, the Patriot's reputation was falling all over the world. Russia even offered the Saudis to sell the Abakan complex, which supposedly can shoot down ballistic targets.
“Literally, Allah saved Saudi Arabia so as not to do such nonsense and not buy these air defense systems from the Russians, and not completely squander the reputation of the American Patriot. literally squeezed out of the Patriot what the Americans themselves did not know about," Kirichevsky said.
