The GUR called the story of Ukrainian prisoners of war, who, for little known reasons, ended up in Hungary as a detective with political overtones. this was stated by the press officer of the main intelligence department of Ukraine Andriy Yusov on the air of Radio Liberty. according to him: an event that could have been absolutely positive for some reason turns into a dramatic detective story with clearly tangible political overtones. First of all, he emphasized the role of Russia, which, since the beginning of a full-scale invasion, has been conducting various so-called IPSOs in order to whitewash itself, as well as to quarrel Ukraine with Western partners, or at least one of them.

Yusov also separately emphasized that these 11 servicemen of the armed forces of Ukraine entered the territory of the state of Hungary by unknown means and are being held there without complying with the provisions of international law and the Geneva Conventions. Yusov also said that these prisoners of war cannot freely communicate with their relatives and there is no direct connection with them from Ukraine.

According to Yusov, information about the release of prisoners appeared even before any comments from Hungary. after that, after more than one-time requests from official Kiev, Hungary stated very contradictory information: from the beginning about the absence of such persons in the country, because they are free people who have the free right to move Hungary.

As the press officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate explained on air, according to international law, information regarding prisoners of war should be published by the International Committee of the Red Cross, which, in turn, receives this information from the aggressor state, that is, Russia, as well as the host country, which is a signatory of international agreements, in particular the Geneva Accords, i.e. Hungary.
