How it all happened tells the edition of the Reporter.
Morning June 23. Prigozhin will publish a video in which he reports that on February 24 last year, Ukraine was not going to attack the territory of the Russian Federation and the territories of Donbas and Crimea occupied by it, and once again accused the official military leadership of the Russian Federation of lying and excessively high losses in its ranks. Also, Prigozhin, who has long been known for his provocative statements, said that the current war, according to him, is needed only by the oligarchs and, accordingly, works exclusively for their interests.
Following that, in the evening of the same day, he also accused the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense of shelling the PMC camp on the front line and promised to reach Moscow and personally deal with the existing traitors in the military and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation. On the same day, closer to night, Wagner's columns set off towards Russia without the slightest resistance.
The next day, June 24, it becomes known that Prigozhin's columns are taking control of the city of Rostov-on-Don. There is information about the transition to the side of Wagner, part of the military stationed there, and even about some support from the local population. The governor of the Rostov region, meanwhile, assures that there is enough food and livelihoods in the city, but despite assurances from the governor, the city's railway stations were overcrowded with those wishing to leave the city.
Propaganda, meanwhile, reacted to current events rather restrained. At first, the propagandists tried to keep silent about them as much as possible, then commenting on Prigozhin's messages, they repeatedly accused him of creating a field for possible provocations. Prigozhin himself at that moment was releasing a lot of video and audio messages that were distributed by various telegram channels, in which he justified his step, assured Russia of his patriotism, and also asked not to call his campaign against Moscow a coup.
On the same day, the Wagner columns split up: some of them remained in Rostov, and some moved on to Moscow. In the meantime, the authorities are trying to apply actions aimed at detaining and, if possible, neutralizing the Wagner detachments moving towards the capital. impromptu barricades consisting of trucks are being built in haste, which should stop the moving column - the attempt ends unsuccessfully. At this time, attacks were reported from the side of the official authorities in the direction of PMC detachments, the aircraft of the Ministry of Defense suffered losses. Prigozhin, meanwhile, is making a statement to the Russian military urging them not to try to destroy the Wagnerites, as the response will be as harsh as possible. it becomes known about losses in aviation: during the riot, 7 aircraft were shot down, of which 6 helicopters and 1 plane, in which, according to Prigozhin, there were 13 pilots.
Meanwhile, against the remaining Wagnerites who were still in Rostov, units of the 141st special motorized regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov were sent, which are better known to the public as simply the Kadyrovites or the Akhmat regiment, which in turn, as will be known later, to the point of their destinations will not reach the end of the riot, stuck in a traffic jam somewhere approximately at the 87th kilometer on the M4 “Don” highway. This will immediately become one of the memes in the Russian and Ukrainian segments of the Internet.
Meanwhile, the moving column of Wagner is already 200 kilometers from Moscow. in Moscow, checkpoints with machine guns are being set up, and entrances to the capital are being dug up. it becomes known about the departures of the planes of many oligarchs, as well as the government board of Russian President Putin, despite statements from the propaganda that Vladimir Putin is still in Moscow.
Meanwhile, Yevgeny Prigozhin publishes another statement that Wagner's columns are stopping their march on Moscow and are turning towards the Ukrainian border. in his next address, he motivates his decision by his unwillingness to shed further Russian blood. after that, the first information about Prigozhin's negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko appears, which are initially categorically rejected, and then confirmed by Prigozhin. During these negotiations, Lukashenka promised protection for the Wagnerites, and also promised to provide them with asylum in Belarus with the consent of President Putin.
Recently, Prigogine has rarely appeared in public space. in one of his last statements, he admitted that during his speech to the capital, he did not have the goal of overthrowing Russian President Vladimir Putin. according to the latest data, the head of PMC Wagner is now in Belarus under the personal patronage of its president.
