The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the closure of the waters of the north-eastern part of the Black Sea for the movement of ships in response to the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the grain deal, as well as the threat of the Russian Federation to neutralize food ships heading to Ukrainian ports and the latest attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry: the Russian Federation grossly violates international law and undermines the foundations of food security. The authorities in Moscow openly threaten civilian ships, in connection with which Ukraine closes the northeastern part of the Black Sea, as well as the Kerch-Yenikalsky (Kerch) Strait, respectively, all ships heading to Russian ports, as well as to Ukrainian ports that are under Russian occupation, can be perceived by Ukraine as carrying military cargo with all possible risks.
The press release also states that attacks on Ukrainian ports and threats to ships carrying food from Ukrainian ports pose a military threat primarily to ships heading to Russian ports and ports under Russian occupation, respectively, all possible risks associated with the safety of navigation in the designated territories should be assigned to the Russian Federation and its leadership.
It is reported that the restrictions on shipping will begin from 05:00 on July 20 this year. it is also specifically specified that the relevant navigational data is already being distributed to shipowners and captains.
