A Sudden Intrusion
In the past 24 hours, a total of 40 Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) aircraft were detected within Taiwan's air defense identification zone. These aircraft were primarily headed towards the southern region of Taiwan and the Bashi Channel, as stated in the Ministry of Defense's announcement.
Crossing Boundaries
According to the defense agency's map, at least four of these aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, northwest of the island. The purpose behind this flight of Chinese military aircraft has not been disclosed by Taiwan's Ministry of Defense.
Biden's Perspective
As previously reported, U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed skepticism regarding China's intentions towards Taiwan, particularly in light of economic challenges. This move by China raises concerns and adds complexity to the ongoing situation in the Taiwan Strait.
