Several Ukrainian pilots have begun taking English language courses in the United States. This is part of their training program to fly F-16 fighter jets.
"English language training has begun for several pilots," Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said during a briefing. She emphasized that the duration of the courses will depend on the skills of Ukrainian pilots.
In addition, a representative of the defense department admitted that the government shutdown, which could occur in the United States on October 1, could potentially affect the language training of pilots from Ukraine. This also applies to civilians who are involved in training, since they will not be able to work if there is no budget funding.
“We hope that Congress can find a bipartisan and bicameral way to avoid a shutdown,” Singh emphasized.
