Chairman of the Council of Land Forces Reservists Ivan Tymochko responded to the words of former British Defense Minister Ben Wallace calling on President Vladimir Zelensky to strengthen mobilization in Ukraine, noting that Ukraine expects defense assistance from partners, and is able to resolve the issue of mobilization on its own.

“We will decide who to call up ourselves, and you will help us more with weapons and technical means. And who to imprison for these weapons and means, what age categories, we will decide ourselves, taking into account our social cross-sections, our potential capabilities. And he actually knows this the best is our Commander-in-Chief Headquarters, the General Staff,” he said on air at the United News telethon.

Tymochko also recalled that today a bill is being considered to reduce the age of those liable for military service - from 25 years. "But the president did not sign it. I am sure that he has certain motives for this. Because before that, the conscription age was 27 years old. As for age categories, we must take into account the fact that the gene pool must be preserved in any case. With on the other hand, if you look back at this, you can lose an entire state and then there will be no question of preserving the gene pool, the nation as such...", noted the Chairman of the Council of Reservists.

At the same time, he added that today all age categories are fighting in the Ukrainian army, since there are those who voluntarily came at 19, 20 years old.
