Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto called Ukraine's exclusion of OTP Bank from the list of international war sponsors the right step. However, Budapest demands guarantees from Kyiv that the bank will not be returned to this list in the future.
Telex reports this. According to Szijjártó, he invited NAPC representatives to Budapest to discuss this issue.
“If a calming agreement is reached, then we will, of course, have to consider what steps this justifies on our part,” he said.
At the same time, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry welcomes the exclusion of this bank from the list. According to him, this allegedly became a de facto recognition by Ukraine that the bank was included in the list for “unfounded, false and ridiculous” reasons.
Szijjártó also added that the Russian division of OTP Bank and four bank executives are still on the NAPC sanctions list.
“We expect that these four managers of OTP Bank and the Russian branch will be removed from the NACP list,” the Hungarian minister noted.
