The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine tried three times to liberate Energodar and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, spoke about this in an interview with NV. According to him, the first attempt was made in August 2022. The purpose of the operation was to create a bridgehead on the left bank. Several dozen special forces crossed the Kakhovka Reservoir on high-speed boats, but they were unable to gain a foothold and had to retreat.
After this, reconnaissance tried twice more to land on the left bank, but to no avail. Soldiers of the International Legion, who have relevant experience, also took part in the latest operation. Then the occupiers were forced to pull heavy equipment to the shore.
