Ukraine mourns the loss of one of its beloved sons of the opera world, Alexander Vostryakov, who graced the National Opera stage for decades. This sad news was confirmed by the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after Tchaikovsky in a Facebook post.
"Renowned People's Artist of Ukraine, long-time soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine, and professor of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky, Alexander Vostryakov, has passed away. We express our condolences to the family and close ones of this exceptional singer," the announcement read.
The exceptional singer, Alexander Vostryakov, succumbed to a severe illness on the 14th of October, as reported by the National Opera.
"Ukrainian music art has lost a great singer whose name is synonymous with one of the brightest pages in contemporary opera art. His beautiful tenor voice captivated thousands of opera enthusiasts for nearly half a century," the statement emphasized.
Vostryakov's repertoire includes over forty roles, known for their emotional intensity and technical complexity, which represent the pinnacles of vocal and stage art.
For three decades, from 1983 to 2012, he held the position of the leading soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine.
Since 1990, Vostryakov had also been teaching solo singing at the Kyiv Conservatory, part of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. Tchaikovsky.
A farewell ceremony for the People's Artist of Ukraine will take place on Tuesday, the 17th of October, at 11:00 in the opera foyer.
