Given how easily realistic websites can be generated and mimicked, the rampant spread of disinformation on the internet is a real and growing concern. In such an environment, the presumption of falsehood may become more prevalent.
To counter this issue, experts are working on the development of virtual assistants that can swiftly provide information regarding the veracity of the content. These virtual assistants rely on artificial intelligence and are expected to play a crucial role in ensuring information accuracy in the near future.
Dr. Petrova also shared that Ukraine is actively participating in a pilot project for AI regulation, which is being developed by the Council of Europe. This methodology aims to determine how AI systems impact human rights, the rule of law, and democracy, as well as potential rights violations. Discussions on regulation are in line with the roadmap outlined for the EU's AI Act. Additionally, sector-specific recommendations are being considered.
