Ukraine's heating companies, collectively known as Teplokomunenergo (TKE), find themselves deep in debt to Naftogaz, with an outstanding balance of 95 billion UAH. This substantial debt includes a significant portion attributed to differences in gas tariffs, amounting to 36 billion UAH. Oleksiy Chernyshov, the CEO of Naftogaz, explained that the current compensation mechanism for the tariff disparity has not been fully implemented. Consequently, Naftogaz is not insisting on immediate repayment of the debt, especially from communities and cities located in frontline or occupied regions.
Chernyshov emphasized that the government is actively seeking solutions to address this situation. He assured the public that the heating season will commence as scheduled and proceed without disruptions. Nevertheless, he urged citizens to use natural gas conservatively.
At the beginning of October, Trading, a subsidiary of Naftogaz, had signed more than 640 gas supply contracts with Teplokomunenergo and housing cooperatives (OSBB), signifying ongoing efforts to ensure a reliable gas supply for the upcoming heating season.
