Australia sent a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth 20 million Australian dollars ($12.8 million), which included equipment for mine clearance and to combat drones. This was reported by The West Australian.
"Australia remains firmly committed to Ukraine's defense against Russia's illegal and immoral invasion... This contribution will provide Ukraine with some of the best capabilities in the world, while investing in Australia's sovereign defense industry and technology sector," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.
It is noted that the package included demining equipment, portable X-ray machines, a 3D metal printer and anti-drone systems - all equipment developed by Australian companies DroneShield, Micro-X, Minelab and SPEE3D.
As Australian Defense Industry Minister Pat Conroy noted, 3D metal printers can be used to print spare parts for mine clearance, and portable X-ray equipment will provide “vital assistance to Ukrainian personnel on the battlefield.”
Additionally, Australia is reported to have deployed a Royal Air Force E-7A Wedgetail to Germany to support efforts to secure the gateway to international humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine.
