During the conference on the "Prospects and Conditions for the Biogas Market in Ukraine," Vitaliy Holovnia, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, stated that Ukraine could potentially supply up to 20% of the European Union's biogas production needs. The European Union has plans to produce up to 35 billion cubic meters of biogas annually by 2030.

Holovnia emphasized that Ukraine could compete with any country in biogas production and offer the most cost-effective raw materials. Ukraine boasts the largest agricultural land area in Europe, which gives it one of the world's most significant potentials for biogas production.

According to Holovnia, Ukraine's biomass energy potential amounts to over 25 million tons of oil equivalent per year. This significant energy potential showcases the country's capacity to contribute to the European biogas market.

Furthermore, biogas and biogas plants also produce digestate, which can become a primary organic fertilizer necessary for soil rejuvenation. The utilization of the bioenergy potential of the agricultural and processing industry will contribute to decentralizing the energy system and ensuring reliable energy supply for communities. Additionally, it will increase the income of agricultural producers through the sale or utilization of residues and the production of high-quality organic fertilizer. Overall, it will strengthen the country's energy security. Ukraine is poised to become a key player in the growing biogas market, benefiting both its economy and the environment.
