Toyota has manufactured 5.06 million cars across the globe in the first half of the financial year, marking a 12.8% increase compared to the same period last year. This achievement represents a historic production level for the company, the first of its kind in the last four years.
The improved situation regarding chip availability has allowed the world's largest car manufacturer to sell 5.17 million vehicles both domestically and internationally during the first six months ending in September. This figure is 9.1% higher than the corresponding period the previous year.
This marks the first instance where the Japanese automaker witnessed its production and sales crossing the 5 million mark in the first half of a financial year. Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to manufacture and sell over 10 million vehicles in the entire financial year, which will conclude in March 2024.
