Ukrainian military personnel who carry out combat missions in the Donetsk region of Ukraine said that Russian artillery has significantly intensified in recent weeks.

Ukrainian artillerymen told Reuters that shelling intensified last month. At the same time, the intensity of shelling remains below the maximum intensity that took place a year ago.

Other Ukrainian soldiers stationed across the front told Reuters that the long-term trend was a significant decline in Russian artillery attacks compared with a year ago.

South Korea's intelligence service said Wednesday that North Korea has supplied more than a million shells to Russia since August.

"If this is true, then they must have received quite a large number of shells from (North) Korea. We can certainly see that," one defense lawyer said.

Despite the increase in the number of shells, Ukrainian troops on the front line report that the front line remains virtually unchanged.
