Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian military has attacked the maritime and port infrastructure of the Russians at the Zaliv shipyard in temporarily occupied Kerch on the evening of November 4.

Fresh satellite imagery shows the impact damaged the Project 22800 corvette Karakurt at the shipyard, although the extent of the damage to the ship is not yet clear, the ISW report said.

It was noted that the Zaliv plant planned to build 14 warships intended for the Black Sea Fleet in the period from 2016 to 2021, including eight of Project 22800 Karakurt. However, as of this year, only three corvettes have been launched from the shipyard.

As is known, the Zaliv shipyard is the largest shipyard in Eastern Europe and, probably, the main repair enterprise of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in temporarily occupied Crimea after the successful attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Sevmorzavod in Sevastopol on September 13, 2023.

According to analysts, the exact extent of the losses is not yet clear; satellite images allow us to make assumptions. Experts say the strike likely did not cause damage that would disrupt its operations in the medium to long term.

According to ISW estimates, since June 2023, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been conducting a campaign to destroy Russian military infrastructure in occupied Crimea, primarily Black Sea Fleet facilities. This is necessary to weaken the ability of the Russian military to use Crimea as a springboard and rear for Russian operations in southern Ukraine.
