Renowned French director and philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy has reaffirmed his commitment to Ukraine by pledging to donate all the proceeds from the screening of his latest documentary film, "With Ukraine in the Heart," to the Zelenska Foundation. The premiere of this documentary took place in a packed auditorium at the "Balzac" cinema in Paris and was attended by Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
Olena Zelenska expressed her gratitude to the director for advocating Ukraine's interests in France and around the world, emphasizing Lévy's genuine friendship and partnership. The director also extended special invitations to the film's heroes, including a paramedic, a volunteer, a military veteran who lost a leg in combat, Ruslana Danilkina, and three young women from the village of Yagidne, all of whom played crucial roles in the documentary.
Lévy stressed the importance of global support for Ukraine, highlighting that Ukraine's fight for freedom is a shared responsibility.
The filming of "With Ukraine in the Heart" took place from June to September 2023 in the occupied regions of Kherson and Kup'yansk. During this time, Lévy braved air raid sirens with Ukrainian schoolchildren in underground shelters, interacted with Ukrainian defenders on the frontlines in various cities, including Chasove Yar, Bachmut, and other locations in Donetsk and Zaporizhia. He also documented the work of Ukrainian military personnel near the recently liberated Klyshchyvka.
