Lyte Aviation, a London-based startup, has unveiled the design of their ambitious project - the SkyBus, a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The company envisions it as a means of transportation capable of carrying up to 44 passengers, with a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour. The SkyBus is designed to cover distances of over 1000 kilometers, offering a promising alternative for medium-haul travel.
The aircraft will be equipped with turbo-shaft engines and will operate on conventional or environmentally-friendly jet fuel. Additionally, Lyte Aviation has expressed intentions to transition to a hydrogen-electric engine once the technology becomes thoroughly tested and widely available.
The company is on track to develop a full-scale prototype of the SkyBus by 2024, aiming for it to be flight-ready by 2025. This ambitious timeline highlights Lyte Aviation's commitment to revolutionizing air travel and making VTOL technology accessible to a wider audience.
In a significant milestone, Lyte Aviation has also announced a strategic agreement with Indian company Vman Aviation Services for the pre-order of 10 SkyBus aircraft, totaling an impressive 400 million euros. This partnership underscores the growing interest and potential demand for innovative air transportation solutions in the global market.
