The ceremonial events took place during Vasil Zvarych's official visit to the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The establishment of Ukrainian bookshelves in Bydgoszcz and Toruń became possible through the collaboration of the Scientific Society of Diplomacy and International Relations and the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland. The society, in conjunction with the embassy, donated Ukrainian books to the libraries.

The Ukrainian bookshelf project is an initiative spearheaded by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska. Its primary goal is to ensure that Ukrainians residing in Poland have access to books in their native language. The project is executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Book Institute.

To underscore the commitment to promoting Ukrainian culture in Poland, Ambassador Vasil Zvarych previously inaugurated the 10th anniversary Ukrainian-language guide in Poland at the Nicolaus Copernicus House District Museum in Toruń. The guide serves as a testament to the enduring cultural ties between Ukraine and Poland, fostering understanding and appreciation on both sides of the border.
