Users can now choose between using Instagram and Facebook for free with ads or subscribing to an ad-free version. The subscription fee for ad removal is €9.99 per month when processed through the web interface or €12.99 per month through Google or Apple app store payment systems.

Currently, this subscription fee covers all linked accounts. However, starting March 1, 2024, the specified amounts will only be charged for one account on one platform, with an additional charge of €6 or €8, depending on the payment method, for each additional account. The subscription is available to users aged 18 and above.

For those who wish to continue using Facebook and Instagram for free, the company will continue to offer personalized advertising, showcasing "products and brands," utilizing "your information."

In July, the EU Court ruled that companies should consider providing alternative services to customers who do not want their data collected and sold to advertisers, "if necessary - for a corresponding fee."
