The Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems in service with Ukraine were converted to use American missiles.
This was stated by the speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat in an interview with Radio NV. According to him, Western partners announced good results from the use of already adapted air defense systems at a test site in the United States of America.
Ignat noted that the production of missiles for the Buk-M1 and S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems is only in Russia, so Ukraine must look for ways to “cross Soviet with American.”
“They [protect], albeit at a small radius. Sea Sparrow missiles will be able to help protect critical infrastructure facilities, first of all,” added the representative of the Air Force.
