German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius indirectly confirmed that Berlin will double military aid to Ukraine for 2024 to 8 billion euros.
He said on the German television channel ARD that the planned increase in military assistance is “a strong signal to Ukraine that we will not abandon it.” According to a Deutsche Welle source, the decision should be made on Thursday, November 16, at a meeting of the Bundestag budget committee.
“We don’t want to find ourselves in a situation next year where we have to put forward additional demands when it’s important. That’s why the increase is an important signal - especially now, by the way, when Ukraine must continue its fight, and at the same time part of the public’s attention all over the world is more focused on Israel," the minister said.
