The war between Israel and Hamas has led to a slowdown in the supply of shells to Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, reports the French publication Le Monde.
According to the head of state, after the start of the war in the Middle East in Ukraine, the arsenal of shells, in particular, 155 caliber, has decreased.
“Today we have problems with artillery shells of 155 mm caliber. All over the world there are now empty warehouses or there is a legal minimum that this or that state cannot give you. And this is not enough,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, he welcomed US efforts to increase production of this type of ammunition.
“But the problem is even more serious because on the other side of the front line, Russian troops are stockpiling missiles in anticipation of massive attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure this winter. I think they are stockpiling, but they don’t have many more missiles than before. Otherwise they would have started bombing already. ... From an air defense point of view, we are in a better position than last winter,” the president added.
