The "Rebuilding Ukraine" business conference in Toronto this week showcased investment projects aimed at the reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine's sectors, including agriculture, construction, infrastructure, energy, and healthcare. Participants also had the opportunity to explore the "Diya" app and connect with Ukrainian companies working in information technology, finance, and military technology.
Canadian and Ukrainian Collaboration: During last year's conference, many discussions took place, leading to the growth of several companies, initiatives, and projects. According to experts, Canadian entrepreneurs, known for their conservative approach, are now actively engaging in discussions and negotiations with Ukrainian counterparts. Denis Potichny, a conference participant, expressed confidence that despite the cautious nature of Canadian businesses, some projects and collaborations are already underway. Hydroenergy Project Exploration: Potichny highlighted the presence of a delegation from UkrHydroEnergo in Canada, currently studying a hydroenergy project in the province of British Columbia. He emphasized that Canadian and Ukrainian businesses are directly negotiating collaboration, especially in significant projects. While larger projects may require some level of government involvement, discussions primarily revolve around business-to-business interactions.
Memorandum of Cooperation: In September, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in Ottawa between UkrHydroEnergo and the Canadian company Aikon Construction Global Services Incorporated. The memorandum outlines collaboration in the construction of hydroelectric power stations in Ukraine, indicating a tangible step towards enhancing economic ties between the two nations.
