As a result of this pivotal agreement, Starlink satellite devices can now operate in Israel only with the consent of the Israeli Ministry of Communications, including in the Gaza sector, according to Karhi. Perhaps alluding to Musk's recent controversial post on his X social media platform, Karhi added that, given Israel's struggle against groups like HAMAS and ISIS, this understanding is crucial "for everyone who wishes for a better world, free from evil and antisemitism, for the sake of our children."
The minister also expressed hope that Elon Musk's stay in Israel would provide valuable experience, serving as a platform for future endeavors and strengthening relations with the Jewish people and the shared values we hold with the world.
Since the beginning of the war, Israel has been in talks with Starlink to connect frontline settlements in the north and south of the country. Starlink's operations in Israel were supposed to commence shortly after the start of the war on October 7, but Musk's announcement halted the process.
On October 28, Elon Musk declared that his satellite communication system, Starlink, would "support communication with internationally recognized humanitarian organizations in Gaza." On the same day, the Israeli government announced the cessation of cooperation with SpaceX after Musk revealed that the Starlink satellite system would provide communication in the Gaza sector.
