VEON Receives International Award for Crisis Response Program

The international telecommunications group VEON, the sole owner of Ukraine's largest communication operator "Kyivstar," has been honored with the prestigious "Crises Response Awards 2023." The recognition is a result of the successful implementation of their crisis response communication program in Ukraine, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The decision to award VEON was made by the World Communication Awards Association in Amsterdam on November 22, 2023. According to the Kyivstar press service, VEON was acknowledged for its comprehensive approach to ensuring communication during complex operational situations arising from natural disasters and global conflicts.

Global Recognition for Crisis Response

The World Communication Awards serve as a high commendation for VEON, emphasizing its role in ensuring the resilience of telecommunication networks in critical situations. This recognition not only underscores the group's technological competence but also acknowledges its humanitarian efforts in providing communication and assistance in extreme conditions.

Focus on Technological Development for Vulnerable Communities

Over the past two years, VEON has actively developed technologies for the most vulnerable populations and communities. This includes assistance in overcoming challenges during wartime, such as in Ukraine, and responding to natural disasters in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

VEON's CEO, Kaan Terzioglu, highlighted that their crisis response initiatives played a crucial role in ensuring communication during large-scale catastrophes and geopolitical challenges. Wherever the group operates, they ensure connectivity for all subscribers and actively participate in humanitarian aid efforts.

Recognition for Kyivstar and Vladimir Lutchenko's Contribution

The efforts of Kyivstar and its technical director, Vladimir Lutchenko, were also recognized with the award. Lutchenko organized communication support for Ukrainians both domestically and abroad, ensuring the functionality of the telecommunication network despite shelling and power outages.

Special attention was given to Lutchenko's contribution to the development of the Helsi IT platform for providing online medical consultations. This emphasizes not only the company's role in communication but also its commitment to using technology for the benefit of society.

Investment Plans in Ukraine

As previously reported, VEON plans to invest $600 million in Ukraine over the next three years, indicating a long-term and sustainable strategy for the group in the Ukrainian market.
