Military expert "Defense Express" Ivan Kirichevsky, on the air of a national information telethon, explained what the decree of the Russian dictator Putin on increasing the staffing level of the Russian army by 170 thousand people means, as a result of which the number of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will increase to 2,209,130.
"Let's detail that among the entire number of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation there are 1,320,000 military personnel. That is, in some ways it plays into our hands here that the Russians are not fulfilling their own plans for the formation of new troops. Because they already wanted to have 1,500,000 military personnel in 2023 ", emphasized Kirichevsky.
He added that in the Russian Armed Forces, military personnel are distributed among different types of troops. “For example, in the strategic missile forces that service intercontinental ballistic missiles, there are 50 thousand people, because there are missile operators and security guards. In the railway troops that repair roads, up to fifty thousand can also serve there. Airfield security, "The navy is sailors. It is scattered across many specific such structures. Now the number of ground forces of the Russian Federation fluctuates approximately 500-600 thousand people," Kirichevsky emphasized.
The expert explained that such formal steps mean preparation for the creation of new types of connections that “will be more difficult for us to destroy.”
“For example, they should have a division of marines. They have five brigades of marines and on their base they should grow to a division that will have tanks and self-propelled artillery. That is, now such formations will be more difficult to destroy. Another problem is that the Russians are forming new air assault divisions. Both our and British intelligence have already reported about the appearance of the first units of the newly created 104th Airborne Division. And the Russians are trying to expand this process. Moreover, there is also the problem that the Russians are going to clear out all the storage depots "all the remnants of large-caliber artillery, form from them five new heavy artillery brigades, although this was planned as divisions. And throw it against our NATO 155 mm caliber artillery. So that, relatively speaking, the old Soviet self-propelled gun "Pion" would try to shoot our Panzerhaubitze 2000," - Kirichevsky emphasized.
It cannot be said that the Russians are doing something strategically “that is completely beyond understanding,” he noted.
“But, if we take the operational-tactical situation regarding how the Russians may try to strengthen their position in battle in 2024, then this is a problem. Another important point is that it is necessary to count not only the number of bayonets that they are going to put into service, but also the number of new military "organisms" that they are going to create. Because simply counting the Russian living military force only by how they are going to make up for losses is to underestimate the enemy's potential. You just have to look at what new formations they are going to create," Kirichevsky emphasized.
The military expert summed up that so far, with the creation of new formations, everything is going “not as well as they would like” for the Russians.
