Kiev's Expanded Ring Road
Kiev celebrates the completion of the third stretch of the Great Ring Road, a significant transportation project that started back in 2016. The city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, shared the news via Telegram, announcing the opening of this new segment stretching from Bogatirska Street to Obolonsky Avenue. This newly unveiled portion is hailed as the Northern bypass road for the capital.

Development Milestones
Mayor Klitschko reiterated the city's commitment to facilitating access roads to the tunnel under the Dnipro River, aiming to connect the left and right banks and extend toward Troyeshchyna. Highlighting the tunnel as a project under the State Agency for Infrastructure Development, Klitschko affirmed the city's step-by-step fulfillment of its responsibilities.

Immediate Impact on Transportation
With this new segment operational, a portion of the city's traffic will now be redirected onto Obolonsky Avenue. Anticipating the completion of the tunnel, the mayor foresees a decrease in traffic congestion within the city and a reduction in transit traffic traversing the city center and bridges over the Dnipro River.

Environmental Implications
The anticipated benefits extend beyond traffic management; the mayor stressed the potential positive environmental impact. The reduction in traffic volume could significantly lower pollution levels, addressing one of the pressing concerns in the transportation sector—city air quality.

Project Specifications
The three new road segments built by the city span a total length of 3 kilometers, with the segment unveiled today measuring 1100 meters. As reported earlier by Ukrinform, repair works on the Ring Road section from Zhuliany overpass to the turn towards Vyshneve city have been extended until the end of December.
