The L-39ZA Albatros aircraft, transferred to Ukraine by Lithuania, can be modernized and used to destroy enemy missiles and drones. An instructor pilot, a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a military expert, Roman Svitan, told Channel 24 about this.

It is noted that while Ukraine is awaiting F-16 aircraft from Western partners, Lithuania announced the transfer of an L-39ZA Albatros aircraft to Kyiv. Some types of these vessels are already in service with Ukraine, and if they are modernized, it will be possible to protect the Ukrainian sky from kamikaze drones and cruise missiles.

“This is a wonderful aircraft, probably the best among those that I know in terms of balance. Also, the ZA type is equipped with a Ukrainian engine, which has shown itself to be excellent,” the expert explained.

The media adds that this modification of the aircraft has not two, but four suspension points, and can operate with guided missiles in light attack aircraft mode.

“If you install a gun on each of them, they will be able to effectively fight Shahed drones and reconnaissance aircraft, which will cost much less than the work of the MiG-29 and Su-27. Ukraine has such guns,” the material says.
