The Lev Revutsky Prize competition is an annual event, awarding a single prize of 20,000 hryvnias in two categories: compositional creativity and concert performance art. For the "compositional creativity" category, completed musical works in the genre of academic music such as opera, ballet, cantata-oratorio, symphonic, vocal-choral, and chamber-instrumental are eligible. These works must have been composed and published within the last three years, but no later than one month prior to their submission for the prize.

In the "concert performance art" category, concert programs in the field of academic music created by professional performers within the last three years are considered. However, they must be submitted for the prize no later than one month after their creation.

Works or programs that have received other awards or state honors are not eligible for consideration.

Each individual can only be awarded the prize in each category once.
