The US House of Representatives has approved an emergency relief bill for Israel. We are talking about support in the amount of $14.3 billion.
CNN reports this. It is noted that there is no mention of Ukraine in this project, despite Biden’s request to combine assistance to Israel and our state.
During the vote in the US House of Representatives, the project was supported by 226 members of the chamber. 196 people voted against.
Democrats called for combining aid to Israel and Ukraine. It is noted that in the Senate there is bipartisan support for aid to Israel and further support for Ukraine, but in the House of Representatives many Republicans oppose such a step, which creates disagreements between the two chambers of Congress.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the Senate "will not consider this deeply flawed House Republican proposal."
"Instead, we will work together on our bipartisan emergency aid package, which includes aid to Israel, Ukraine, competition with the Chinese government and humanitarian aid to Gaza," he stressed.
Note that Biden previously promised to veto this bill if passed.
