Russia will not abandon the tactics of shelling Ukraine’s energy sector this fall and winter. However, it is impossible to predict when these attacks will begin.
As Andrey Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, potential attacks on the Ukrainian energy system are an absolutely probable scenario.
“This is a terrorist state, which daily continues to strike civilian Ukrainian cities, continues to destroy civilian infrastructure and kill civilian Ukrainians. Accordingly, with regard to the winter period and potential attacks on critical infrastructure, in particular on the energy sector, this is an absolutely probable scenario, to “I’m very sorry,” he said.
The GUR has no reason to believe that the enemy has changed its tactics, returned to the norms of international law, or to the principles of humanism.
“Is there a chance that a cannibal will suddenly become a vegetarian? But we still need to prepare for the fact that the cannibal will continue to want to kill and eat something living. Therefore, of course, Ukraine is preparing for the continuation of terrorist attacks from Russia,” he noted .
At the same time, intelligence officials did not name specific dates when exactly the Russian Federation could launch attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector. The final decision of the Russians can be adjusted at any time. Yusov noted that it would be wrong to make any announcements.
“Any air raid signal must be responded to by everyone - both civilian and military,” Yusov said.
The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate also added that any missile strike, be it 20, 30 missiles or 100, is a serious challenge and threat to the infrastructure and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
