In a stunning artistic display, celebrated Ukrainian composer Roman Hryhoriv, a laureate of the National Taras Shevchenko Award, collaborated with a string orchestra to perform a composition titled "Voice of the Infernal Arrow" in Ivano-Frankivsk. What makes this performance truly unique is the inclusion of the RSZO "Hurricane" missile.
For Hryhoriv, this performance holds deep personal significance. He described it as a ritual and, to some extent, a requiem. It's not just a concert; it represents something profound within him. The piercing, sharp sound of the missile is a central element of this unconventional musical experience. Importantly, Hryhoriv seeks to transform the meaning of this weapon, focusing on life rather than destruction. It's about a different state and a different philosophy. This isn't just about music or pleasure; for him, it's a way to emerge from his own crisis and share a new perspective with others.
Remarkably, Hryhoriv never strung the missile with any actual strings. He first played it when recording a video at the Andriivsky Church, using musical compositions created with the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra. The idea for this unique performance emerged suddenly when he received the missile from a military volunteer.
According to Hryhoriv, the program performed in Ivano-Frankivsk included various pieces, each representing a personal journey of overcoming the trauma of war. He expressed his admiration for the Ivano-Frankivsk audience and plans to repeat this art performance in Kyiv and New York. He firmly believes that playing such music is essential for Europeans today.
Hryhoriv humorously noted, "If I could play this missile for NATO, maybe they would give us an F-16." He underlined the importance of cultural diplomacy in showcasing Ukrainian culture to the world, emphasizing that a nation with a rich culture truly exists.
Notably, the RSZO "Hurricane" missile has been used in the opera "GENESIS" by composers Roman Hryhoriv and Illia Razumeiko, which was presented at the Khanenko Museum last year.
In Ivano-Frankivsk, the art performance "Voice of the Infernal Arrow" was part of a business forum held at King Danylo University and featured the participation of cabaret star Sofia Pavlichenko (London), internationally acclaimed musician and artistic director of the string ensemble "Quattro Corde" Angela Prykhodko, and media composer Georgiy Potopalsky.
