In London, a pro-Palestine demonstration unfolded at King's Cross railway station, despite being previously prohibited by local authorities. The police detained five people during the event.
"Last night, five individuals were arrested during a sit-in protest in solidarity with Palestinians currently living in conflict zones," as stated in an official announcement.
Videos circulated on social media showed protesters sitting in the station corridor, chanting slogans like "stop the fire" and "free Palestine."
The demonstration had been banned prior to its commencement. Consequently, the UK Minister of Transport, Mark Harper, ordered the police to halt the protest on Friday evening, in accordance with Section 14a of the Public Order Act 1986.
The British Transport Police reported that their officers had informed the protesters of the ban on the demonstration and advised them to disperse. The majority of participants peacefully left the area.
Subsequently, five individuals were arrested for not following police instructions.
