Vladimir Zelensky approved the decision to hold presidential elections on March 31, 2024, MP Alexey Goncharenko said on the Espresso TV channel.
“According to my information, Vladimir Zelensky decided to hold presidential elections next year. He instructed the President’s Office to prepare for the elections, which are scheduled to be held on March 31, 2024. This seems to be the constitutional deadline - the last Sunday of March. They are going to explain this decision to the public by "that this is supposedly a demand of Western partners. In particular, because if these elections are not held, then Zelensky will lose legitimacy. Especially against the backdrop of the fact that Putin plans to hold elections in March," Goncharenko said.
At the same time, Goncharenko assures that “Western partners are not demanding any elections from us.”
“I would like to immediately assure that our Western partners are not demanding any elections from us. There are no public or public demands. This has nothing to do with our partners. These are exclusively political tasks that the Office of the President sets for itself. We are talking exclusively about presidential elections. Since parliamentary ones are directly prohibited by the Constitution of Ukraine,” he added.
