US President Joseph Biden, in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on October 6, called for a three-day ceasefire in Gaza to free some of the hostages held by Hamas. Axios writes about this with reference to unnamed American and Israeli officials.
According to the publication, the United States, Israel and Qatar are discussing a plan in which Hamas will release 10-15 hostages and use the three-day pause to compile an accurate list of people who were captured on October 7.
Netanyahu, according to Axios interlocutors, told Biden that he opposed this option because he did not trust Hamas and believed that the militants would not fulfill their part of the deal.
