Ukraine's trade for January to October 2023 amounted to $82 billion, with $52.2 billion in imports and $29.8 billion in exports, as reported by the State Customs Service. Notably, taxed imports accounted for $43.4 billion, representing 83% of the total imported goods.
The tax burden per kilogram of taxed imports in January-October 2023 was $0.49, marking a 44% increase compared to the same period in 2022.
Major contributors to Ukraine's imports included China ($8.4 billion), Poland ($5.5 billion), and Germany ($4.1 billion). On the export side, the top destinations were Poland ($4.1 billion), Romania ($3.3 billion), and Turkey ($2 billion).
The largest share of imported goods for January-October 2023 comprised machinery, equipment, and transport ($16 billion), chemical industry products ($9.3 billion), and fuel and energy products ($8.7 billion).
In terms of exports, the top three categories from Ukraine were food products ($17.7 billion), metals and metal products ($3.3 billion), and machinery, equipment, and transport ($2.5 billion).
The customs clearance of exported goods subject to export duties contributed 500.7 million hryvnias to the budget.
For the period of January to September 2023, Ukraine's trade volume amounted to $73.7 billion.
