Fighting continues in eastern and southern Ukraine, but rainy weather is slowing the pace. This is expected to continue until winter conditions set in.
As the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports, citing a Russian milibloger, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to defend Avdievka from a strong group of Russians and at the same time maintain the initiative on the southern front. According to him, it is premature to talk about the victories of the occupying army, since this will create false ideas about the situation on the battlefield.
At the same time, another “military correspondent” adds that although bad weather prevents the use of armored vehicles in the western part of the Zaporozhye region, Ukrainian troops are attacking Russian positions with infantry units.
The other day, British intelligence stated that neither side had achieved significant progress in the Kupyansky, Avdeevsky directions or on the left bank of the Kherson region, where the most intense fighting continues. It adds that as cold winter weather sets in, there are fewer immediate prospects for major changes on the front line.
"Frosty winter weather conditions are likely to encourage a return to more active fighting, and continued rainy weather is unlikely to deter Ukrainian or Russian attacks," ISW added.
