The Ukrainian Parliament has set a deadline to fulfill several Euro-integration demands by spring next year. These include amending the Law on National Minorities of Ukraine, a key demand from Hungary, supporting changes to the Constitution of Ukraine, strengthening the independence of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, and increasing the staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Vice Speaker Kondratyuk expressed confidence that the political decision to begin talks on Ukraine's accession to the EU would be adopted. However, challenges remain, particularly with Hungary's demands regarding the Law on National Minorities, specifically concerning language and education. Discussions on this matter are ongoing within the Ukrainian Parliament's Human Rights Committee and involve Deputy Chairman Kornienko.
The European Commission recommended, on November 8, that the Euro-Rada initiate negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova's accession to the EU. Additionally, under certain conditions, negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina are advised, and Georgia is proposed to be granted candidate status.
In December, the European Council is set to discuss the initiation of talks on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
