The Kyiv City State Administration (KMVA) has alerted drivers about restrictions on heavy vehicles entering the city on November 27th due to significant weather deterioration. The forecast indicates a substantial deterioration in weather conditions to level II (orange) danger on both November 26th during the day and overnight into November 27th.
The warning includes:
Heavy snowfall expected to accumulate 20-30 cm of snow
Wind strengthening to 17-22 m/s
Blizzards and snowdrifts
Icy road conditions
The KMVA emphasized potential disruptions to transportation, municipal, and energy services due to the challenging weather conditions.
Emergency, municipal, and road services are prepared to handle the aftermath of the inclement weather. Over 500 specialized vehicles and nearly 20,000 tons of salt and over 50,000 tons of sand have been stockpiled for this purpose.
Chief of the KMVA, Sergiy Popko, urged drivers to refrain from unnecessary travel within the city, parking on sidewalks or roadsides to avoid obstructing specialized machinery.
To prevent traffic congestion and facilitate snow removal operations, entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be restricted on November 27th.
Regarding educational institutions, schools will operate in a blended mode - a mix of offline and online classes. Parents will decide whether to keep their children at home for remote learning or send them to school. Meanwhile, kindergartens will continue operating as usual.
Furthermore, the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, cautioned about severe weather expected to affect the Kyiv region. He urged vehicle owners, if possible, to refrain from traveling during these days due to the anticipated snowfall, ice, blizzards, and increased wind.
Kravchenko mentioned having instructed relevant services to be on standby, with all operational services in the Kyiv region switched to round-the-clock duty.
