The term “non-flying weather” exists for a reason. Cold, strong winds and poor visibility, which are observed today in Ukraine, affect the operation of aviation, as well as the ability of the Russian Federation to “target” drone strikes.

Speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat said this during the telethon. He noted that the operation of UAVs is affected by wind power; they can simply be blown away.

“If there is a strong wind, then this can have an effect, because it can simply blow away those drones. It affects cruise missiles less. But a UAV is actually an aircraft that has its own flight characteristics, power, flight range, so bad weather has some influence,” - Ignat noted.

At the same time, he warned that sudden changes in temperature from minus to plus could lead to icing on the fuselage of aircraft. This complicates the work of aviation.

Bad weather conditions also negatively affect the operation of air defense. “If anti-aircraft missile systems can easily destroy aircraft, enemy air attack weapons, that is, cruise missiles, drones, then for mobile fire groups poor visibility is a very negative factor in the effectiveness of their work,” emphasized the speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ignat noted that tonight was quite calm for Ukraine compared to previous days. He noted that that night “there were moments when Kh-59 missiles were used, but to no avail for the enemy.” According to him, there were no drones today because, obviously, the enemy took a break after the large batch that he launched the night before last.
